Delete My Data Policy
Effective date: September 19, 2026 · Version 2026.2
What This Covers
We don't sell your personal data. Your Memoir Builder account and the content you create in it (boards, chapters, cards, photos, and documents), along with your AI assistant conversations, are stored on our servers so the Service can work across your devices.
Two Ways to Delete Your Data
1. Delete your account in the app. Memoir Builder gives you direct, self-service control over your own account and data through a Delete Account option in your account/user settings menu. This removes your account and its stored content immediately. Once deleted, it's gone — we have no way to retrieve it.
2. Email us. If you can't access the app, email info@memoirbuilder.org with the subject line "delete". You must email us from the same email address used to create your Memoir Builder account, so we can verify you're the account's owner before deleting it. We'll confirm once your account and its data have been deleted.
What We May Retain
After deletion, your account and content are removed from our active database. We may retain a limited record of your request itself (the deletion request email and the date it was completed) for our own audit purposes. Your data may also persist briefly in routine server backups until those backups are rotated out in the normal course of business, typically within 30 days. We do not use backup copies to restore a deleted account except to comply with a legal obligation. Where we're required by law to retain certain records — for example, a report made under our Child Abuse Policy — we retain only what's legally required, for as long as required.
Third-Party Providers
Some features send limited information to third-party providers, as described in our App Privacy Policy — the AI provider for the AI assistant, and the transcription provider if you transcribe an audio file. Deleting your account removes your content and your AI assistant conversations from our active database (subject to the routine backup rotation described above). Any copy a provider holds is governed by that provider's own retention terms, and we can't delete it for you.
